At just 18 years old, Yasmin Atwal has already established herself as a rising global leader whose compassion, intellect, and commitment to justice and sustainability are making an international impact. An incoming student at Suffolk University, Yasmin embodies the qualities of a changemaker—combining academic excellence, social awareness, and a deep desire to uplift others through service, advocacy, and innovation.
As the founder and CEO of Covid Kids Canada, Yasmin launched a national nonprofit at the age of 13 during the height of the pandemic to provide free mental health support for children struggling with anxiety, isolation, and online schooling challenges. Her leadership ensured over one thousand youth had access to emotional wellness resources and peer-based guidance during one of the most challenging times in recent history.
Expanding her global footprint, Yasmin co-founded Women STEM Mentorship, an initiative that empowers young women and girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and medicine. Through mentorship, e-learning, and career workshops, the organization has broken barriers for women in male-dominated fields—helping hundreds of mentees secure scholarships, internships, and leadership roles across industries. Her work has directly contributed to advancing gender equity in STEM worldwide.
A passionate advocate for environmental stewardship, Yasmin also co-founded Green Teen Generation in 2023 and spearheaded a reforestation initiative that planted 1,040 trees in areas impacted by deforestation and climate change. This effort restored biodiversity habitats, improved air quality, and mitigated climate impacts, while also inspiring youth to recognize the power of small-scale environmental actions. Furthermore, she was involved in restoration and conservation of forests which led to about 48,246 pounds pollutants removed in one year. Over a 20-year period, these 1,040 trees will remove nearly 964,920 pound of pollutants. These trees remove pollutants from the air, including sulfur dioxide (SO₂) 1,768 lbs/year, nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) 3,224 lbs/year, ammonia (NH₃) 1,560 lbs/year, and particulate matter (PM) 42,640 lbs/ year. Yasmin also launched an environmental education campaign reaching 80,000 schools in the USA, impacting millions of students. By providing resources and step-by-step eco-friendly programs, such as solar power initiatives and sustainable school gardens, the campaign instilled a culture of environmental responsibility and climate advocacy in schools.
Her leadership as organizer of the World Youth Sustainability Summit brought together youth leaders to address global challenges such as biodiversity loss, carbon emissions, and wildlife monetization. She united global youth and experts to tackle critical environmental challenges, fostering a collaborative platform for action toward a sustainable future. Yasmin’s keynote address on “The Monetization of Wildlife and its Effect on Global Warming” inspired young change makers to take actionable steps toward sustainability.
A TEDxYouth speaker, Yasmin’s talk, “The Correlation Between Monotonous Routine and the Rise in Youth Mental Health Changes,” explored the psychological effects of repetitive lifestyles on young people. Her insight into the intersection of psychology, wellbeing, and resilience reflects her deep interest in human behavior and social progress. She also expresses herself
through art and performance—having delivered vocal performances at major venues, including with Rodney Jones’ Blues Quartet and the Darrow Music Collective.
Yasmin’s commitment to ethics, human rights, and access to justice extends beyond her volunteerism. As the author of “The Human Code: Law Through Our Eyes,” she brings the complexities of law, rights, and civic responsibility into youth-accessible language, making legal education approachable and relevant. Her YouTube channel, “Yasmin’s Legal Lounge: Tips for Teens,” continues this mission, offering practical legal knowledge to empower her generation with awareness and advocacy skills. Yasmin was recently awarded Rising Global Star in Law & Justice by Future Collaboration.
A Global Youth Awards judge, Global Volunteer Recognition medalist (2024 & 2025), and recipient of the American Citizenship Award and Suffolk Regional Award, Yasmin has been recognized for her leadership, civic engagement, and commitment to excellence. Yasmin is also the recipient of the award Transformational Leader of the Year RISING STAR (Promising, Aspiring and Young Visionary) being presented at the House of Lords, UK Parliament, Palace of Westminister in London on November 21, 2025.
Her diverse experiences include being an equestrian show jumper and a member of the Havergal Swim Team to volunteering as an animal care assistant, in healthcare and education and fundraising $1500 for Pratham USA to help fund education for women and girls in India. These activities reflect her compassion, versatility, and global-minded vision. She has also received multiple medals at Equestrian competitions.
As an active member of organizations such as WomanACT, Justice for Children and Youth, and the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, Yasmin continues to champion equality, ethics, and human rights. Her work across disciplines—law, psychology, sustainability, and social justice—positions her as an individual who is not only shaping conversations about the future but also building a more compassionate and sustainable world for all.
