Several Arab leaders extended their congratulations to Donald Trump following his decisive victory in the 2024 US presidential election, signaling a continued focus on strengthening ties with the United States under his leadership.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman was among the first to offer his congratulations, sending a cable to Trump that expressed wishes for his success and for continued progress and prosperity for the American people. The king also highlighted the longstanding historical relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States, emphasizing the mutual desire to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman followed suit with his own congratulatory message, which was followed by a phone call in which he reiterated the Kingdom’s goal to strengthen Saudi-US relations. The Crown Prince also expressed his hopes for the future prosperity of the American people under Trump’s leadership.
The UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan also sent congratulations, noting the enduring partnership between the UAE and the US, rooted in shared ambitions for progress. The UAE, which played a key role in the 2020 Abraham Accords under Trump, underscored the importance of continued cooperation with Washington.
Similarly, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed optimism about Trump’s return to office, stating that he hoped it would help bring peace to the Middle East. El-Sisi called for a concerted effort to strengthen regional stability and enhance Egypt-US relations.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II also congratulated Trump, emphasizing the importance of the US’s role in regional peace and stability. He expressed his desire to work together with the US to maintain and deepen Jordan’s long-standing partnership with Washington.
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, whose country has played a key diplomatic role in Middle Eastern affairs, particularly in the Gaza conflict, also sent his congratulations. Sheikh Tamim expressed his hopes for continued collaboration to ensure regional security and stability.
Trump’s foreign policy agenda in his first term was marked by major diplomatic initiatives such as the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations. However, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which escalated during the election campaign, remains a key challenge that Trump has promised to address in his second term.
As Arab leaders expressed their congratulations, many also highlighted the need for continued peace efforts, particularly regarding the volatile situation in Gaza and broader regional stability. The hope across the Middle East is that Trump’s return to the White House will provide both a diplomatic and strategic boost for addressing these ongoing challenges.
