Building PAC Leaders required navigating obstacles related to capital, growth, market conditions, and access to opportunities. Yet some of the most difficult moments stemmed from broken relationships, failed agreements, and opportunities that unexpectedly disappeared.
Over the years, he experienced situations in which business relationships failed and opportunities worth more than $25 million were disrupted or lost. He encountered betrayal from individuals he trusted and faced moments that tested both his confidence and commitment.
There were times when he questioned everything.
Yet these experiences ultimately reinforced one of his most important beliefs: setbacks do not define the future. What matters most is how individuals respond to adversity.

This was significant for Melvin not only professionally but also personally. For him, being at one of the most prestigious international design forums in the world was a real achievement, starting from the South Side of Chicago.
It also brought to mind advice he received from his father years earlier: learn a trade, and you can take it anywhere in the world.
That lesson proved to be profoundly true.
