Seattle, WA — August 8, 2024 — Zillow Group, Inc. a leader in the real estate technology sector, has announced the promotion of Jeremy Wacksman to chief executive officer. This strategic move comes as the company continues to innovate in how individuals buy, sell, rent, and finance homes. Wacksman takes over from co-founder Rich Barton, who remains on the Board of Directors and transitions to the role of co-executive chair alongside fellow co-founder Lloyd Frink.

Wacksman joined Zillow in 2009 after his tenure at Microsoft and has progressively advanced through various leadership roles, including product leader, chief marketing officer (CMO), and most recently, chief operating officer (COO). As COO, Wacksman oversaw critical aspects of Zillow’s operations, including engineering, marketing, product development, and industry relations.

Rich Barton praised Wacksman’s contributions, stating, “Zillow’s business is firing on all cylinders despite a challenging real estate landscape. Jeremy’s leadership has been pivotal in driving innovation, integrating our products, and enhancing our strategic partnerships.” Barton added that the last three years under Wacksman’s guidance have seen significant advancements for the company.

Throughout his career at Zillow, Wacksman has been a key figure in pioneering mobile real estate shopping experiences, resulting in Zillow’s apps achieving three times the daily active users compared to competitors. His work as CMO was instrumental in establishing Zillow as a household name, with the platform now boasting an impressive 231 million average monthly unique users.

Both Barton and Frink, who have been at the helm of the company since its inception in 2004, will continue to provide support to Wacksman and the leadership team in their new roles.

As Zillow Group embarks on this new chapter, the company is poised to further transform the residential real estate landscape through innovative technology and enhanced consumer experiences.
