Jimmy Fallon scarcely delivered the first few words of his monologue before The Roots interrupted. “Just bring her out!” they yelled, eliciting immediate applause from the crowd. It was her seventh time on The Tonight Show and just a few days after the highly anticipated release of her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl.
A Mystery Uncovered
Swift sat across from Fallon looking as relaxed as you could be if you had been holding back for a full year. Listening to the story, it was clear there had been a lot of holding back. “This album was my secret for almost a year,” she said, smiling. “It was like having a Christmas present hid, and thinking about it every day, thinking this is the best gift that any of my friends is going to get. I have to wait until we have the gift. That is absolutely how it felt.”
For her, it was now about sharing something with her fans because they all could “unwrap and play.”
The Ring and the Proposal
The camera quickly zoomed in on Swift’s left hand, pointed out by Fallon, revealing her engagement ring, which she says “he had holding onto before he proposed.” “He designed it himself with a jeweler.
